Dr. Spurgat founded Little Spurs Pediatric Urgent Care in 2006. Dr. Spurgat is Board Certified in Pediatrics and has more than 12 years Pediatric emergency room experience. He earned his medical degree from University of Michigan Medical School and completed his post graduate training at Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston. He served as Director of Christus Santa Rosa Children’s Emergency Room for seven years. Dr. Spurgat is married with four children and his hobbies are fishing, reading, and bird watching.
Dr. Alicia Tezel is Board Certified in Pediatric Medicine and has more than 14 years pediatric emergency room experience. She earned her medical degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. She has been President of the San Antonio Pediatric Society and Chair of Bexar County Child Fatality Review Board. Dr. Tezel is married with four children and her hobbies include camping, water and snow skiing, and reading. She has served as our Medical Director since 2006.
Randal A. Becker joined Little Spurs Pediatric Urgent Care in 2007. Becker is a Board Certified Administrator with 25 years of health care management experience working to bring the Little Spurs company mission to all patient centered encounters. Prior to Little Spurs, Becker held Administrator positions in various medical specialties. Becker is a member of the Community First Provider Office Advisory Committee and former member of the Texas Workers’ Compensation Commission Return to Work Guideline Committee. He is a member of MGMA and the American College of Medical Practice Executives. Becker holds a Bachelors of Business Administration degree in Management from U.T. - El Paso and a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Phoenix.
John Wisniewski began his career as a Big 4 firm consultant and subsequently held executive financial roles for over 20 years with Nix Health Care System and HCA in San Antonio. John's CFO responsibilities included acquisitions, expansions, MSO/ACO management, compliance, business development, compliance and traditional financial functions.
He's also served as CEO of the Bexar County Medical Society, representing over 4,000 members with advocacy, education, philanthropy and business solutions as well as a principal of the Xenex Disinfection Services, LLC. Center of Excellence, responsible for strategic partnerships.
Shauna Kohleffel joined Little Spurs in 2011 as a Nurse Manager. She now serves as the Director of Nursing. Shauna earned her nursing degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio and has over eight years of experience as a nurse. Shauna loves spending time with her husband Nick and her two children.
Mark Neese joined Little Spurs in 2016 and serves as the Director of Finance. He earned his degree in Accounting from Texas State University, and has over 7 years experience in the private sector. Mark is an avid sports fan and his hobbies include golfing, running, and spending time with his wife and their dog Jake.
Kaitlin Booth joined Little Spurs in 2015 as the social media marketing specialist. She received both her Bachelor's and Master's degrees from Texas Tech University. Kaitlin is a member of the American Marketing Association and enjoys spending time with her husband and dog, Milo. Kaitlin has served as the Marketing Manager at Little Spurs since 2016.
Eloy joined Little Spurs in 2014 as the Human Resources Manager. He has over 15 years of HR experience working in various HR disciplines including Benefits, Employee Relations and Recruiting. Eloy is a graduate of both the University of Texas - San Antonio where he earned a Bachelor's degree in History and Our Lady of the Lake University where he earned an MBA in Management. Eloy is a certified HR professional holding both the PHR (Professional in Human Resources) and the SHRM-CP (Society for Human Resource Management - Certified Professional) designations. He is married with four children and his hobbies include writing, walking, collecting comic books and is an avid console gamer.
Melinda Mapp received her professional training in Jacksonville, Florida. She has 25 years' experience in the medical field. She began her experience as a Medical Office Consultant for many medical practices along the east coast. Then switching gears in 2001, she became a Medical Billing Manager. She has led the Little Spurs Pediatric Urgent Care, PLLC Medical Billing and Coding team for the past 5 years. Melinda is married with four children and 4 grandchildren. Her hobbies are camping, fishing, and spending time at the beach.
Cathy Spurgat has been involved with Little Spurs Pediatric Urgent Care since its inception in 2006. She received her Bachelor of Science from Alma College, a Master of Science from Easter Michigan University, and then completed an internship with Beyer Memorial Hospital. She became Board Certified as a Registered Dietician and Texas State Licensure. Employment as a registered, licensed dietician in hospitals and freestanding clinics followed. Currently, she works closely with Melinda Mapp, Little Spurs' Billing Manager, on provider and facility credentialing and ancillary administrative task. Cathy says it is inspiring to be part of a team dedicated to providing quality healthcare.
Lillie Salinas has been with Little Spurs Pediatric Urgent Care since 2012. She earned her Bachelor's of Business Administration from The University of the Incarnate Word. Lillie has 7 years of experience of administrative support in the health care field. She enjoys spending time with her husband Johnny and her dog Elvis.
Elise L. Vasquez joined Little Spurs Pediatric Urgent Care in 2015 as a front office specialist. She is currently pursuing her BA in Accounting at Texas A&M University - San Antonio. Elise has served as the Human Resources Coordinator since 2017. Her hobbies include hiking, running, and spending time with her fiancé and their two dogs.
